The Fog refers to how some videos Daniel recorded would have a blurry, fog-like effect. The Fog would first appear sometime in 2020, though it's impossible to pinpoint its exact first appearance. It would disappear then reappear, and in some videos the fog was so severe that it was impossible to make out Daniel's face. The fog arc would roughly be dated around August / September 2020 to November.
Daniel Larson's fog predates the "the fog is coming" meme which would spread around early 2022. The fog was a significant aspect in early Daniel Larson content, becoming one of the many reasons that his content was considered strange or bizarre.
There was much community speculation as to what "the fog" actually was, as there was no concrete evidence for any claims made about its origin. One of the believed causes of the fog was that Daniel damaged his phone’s front and/or back camera in what was presumably a meltdown or from water damage, with one related theory being that he tape over the screen to protect his phone. Another theory was that The Fog was caused due to Daniel ejaculating on his phone and letting it dry.[1]
History
The Fog has made periodic appearances in different arcs, as well as an alternate form where Daniel's camera would seemingly be smeared due to glaring from light sources surrounding him.[2] These would be more prevalent during the winter months between 2021-2024.[3] "The Fog arc" usually refers to mid-to-late 2020, where the fog was most prevalent.
Notably, the fog suddenly reappeared in mid-2021, while on the @daniellarsonishere account.[4]

Daniel's debunk
In October of 2023, Daniel claimed on the @daniellarsonfreedom TikTok account that the "fog arc" was caused by management telling him to place tape on his camera before peeling it off to bolster “extra publicity.”[5] It's not known what period of time he was referring to specifically, or which management he was referring to. This was tested by one user on r/Daniellarson to produce a similar effect.[6]
