— Intro to the song |
"Southside" is a song released by Daniel Larson under Party House Records on March 16, 2021. It has since been condemned by Daniel, with him saying it's "not his song".
Southside was purportedly made in 2020, as it was released just a few days after Daniel's return to TikTok around March 11.[1] According to Flexburger, Daniel was unable to produce any ideas for the song, so Flexburger fully wrote the song.[2]
The song was produced by Jay. It samples "Chaos In My Heart" by Vivian Copeland. Daniel's verses feature a mixture of vocals that sound like they were recorded over a phone call and others that have a laptop or Zoom call quality.
The lyrics are characterized by a blend of personal frustration with previous management, and social commentary. Daniel launches into a critique of Big Bank Records whom he depicts as isolated and aimless. There are also clear references to The Riots and his presidential campaign. A music album, Pray 4 Denver is also teased at the end of the song and is specifically named on the YouTube upload.
"Southside" was initially released on YouTube and streaming services on March 16, 2021. The original YouTube version included a verse from Kanye West’s 2016 song "FML." Lyrics
Are you recording? (2x)
Big motherfucking bank records
They tried to make me a masturbator
They sit on their Discord all day, just-
Yeah, I'm praying for change (2x)
YZY on the track, let's get it
I'm in the casino, let's bet it
Big bank, I'll rob your bank
Fake teenagers tryna pull a prank
Fine dining records, P.R.E
I'll get your girl on her knees
We on the southside (2x)
The south don't mess with the west
Mess with me, here goes Mr. West
Stop the riots! (2x)
Donald Trump is very biased
Speak of p-
P.R.E
I'll get your girl on hеr knees
I am the president, I am thе king
The album is dropping this spring
Big bank sucks, big bank sucks
They sit on their Discord and have no friends
Speaking of P.R.E. (Yeah, buddy)
Big motherfucking bank records
They tried to make me a masturbator
They sit on their Discord all day, just-
Did you know that P.R.E. records stands for "Piss, run, emergency"?
I never knew that!
One last thing I need to let you know
You ain't ever seen anything crazier than
This nigga when he off his Lexapro
Remember that last time in Mexico
Remember that last time, the episode
Stay tuned for my first music album
