Records of Nancys family.

Early life

Born in Michigan to parents Saleen (sometimes spelled Saleem) Essa Kiswiney, a manager at a grocery store (1909-1983) and Rameses (sometimes referred to as Ramsa) Sarah Kallie (née Kiswiney), an elementary school teacher (1910-1976). Nancy was the youngest of 3 children. She had two siblings, Carol McGuire (née Kiswiney), and David Kiswiney, her brother.

Later life, and adoption of Elisabeth

Nancy married Daniel William Shimer (1943–2015) on November 28, 1970.[5] They had two biological daughters, Sarah and Rachel, and one adopted daughter, Elisabeth.

According to Daniel, Nancy worked in social services, with her job requiring her to relocate infants put for adoption. During one of these relocations, Nancy stumbled upon Elisabeth, to which she then adopted.[6] It is unknown what relationship Elisabeth had with Nancy's biological children, much less what Nancy's relationship with her husband was, especially given their divorce on September 1, 2005.[7]
