The Tennyson Center is a facility for troubled and neglected youth in Denver, Colorado where Daniel Larson formerly attended. There is a video on YouTube from December 2012 produced by a local news agency featuring a 14-year-old Daniel Larson and his grandmother, Nancy Shimer sharing their experience at the center. This video is the first known instance of Daniel mentioning his passion for acting. He was attending the center due to being neglected by his parents, especially his mother, Elisabeth Shimer. He attended for a total of 3 years, however he only lived there for one and a half years, his grandmother moving from California to care for him.
