The Reference

In the first episode of season 2, main characters Pim and Charlie encounter their coworker Allen drenching a homeless person with dirty water from a hose. Pim identifies the homeless person to be Gwimbly, a video game mascot and developer who Pim identified to be an influence and someone who made up his childhood. When Pim offers Gwimbly his help, Gwimbly refuses and states that he is on his own, and is shown to do Cameos for fans. However, after consideration from Pim and Allen, Gwimbly acknowledges and allows them to try and help him.

Many observers have noticed a familiar appearance with Gwimbly, specifically with the notable two front teeth, and the elongated nose. Most notably, viewers have tied connections between Gwimbly's narcissistic personality and homelessness, along with his refusal for help with aspects of Daniel's own life. Given the creators have referenced Chris Chan and other lolcows in the past, along with even nearly getting Chris Chan on the show, it seems that Daniel got the same treatment through a niche reference.
