Knowing how to properly cite and archive sources of information is incredibly fundamental to the quality and reliability of the Daniel Larson Wiki. However, due to the nature of Daniel Larson content and other lolcow-adjacent content, sources of information often get taken down off of most mainstream websites, which makes archival much more important on the DLW than other wikis.

Citations

If a claim is made, then it should be cited. If there is content (photos, videos) below that proves the claim, you do not need to cite it, but it is recommended you put [See below] next to it to clarify that.

Archiving

Websites, videos, and other links should be archived on Archive.org. You can embed the Archive.org template and insert the link to the video to put it on an article.

Websites that delete content and should be immediately archived

These websites are known to regularly remove Daniel Larson content. Please do not cite them without archival.

  • Youtube
  • Reddit
    • Reddit used to be OK to cite without archival, but due to the recent takedown of r/Daniellarson
  • Any other

Websites that are known to be reliable and are suggested to be archived

While you still should archive videos/links, not immediately archiving these sources is not necessarily bad practice as they do not regularly take down Daniel Larson content.
