Rules
When writing a date in Chicago style, do not write it as, 'July 27th.' It is supposed to be written as, 'July 27.'
When placing a footnote number, it is supposed to follow any punctuations, such as a comma or quotation mark.
Periods go inside of the quotation marks when they end a sentence, even if the quote had no period in it. For example, "I was not sure." Then the next sentence can continue on as if a traditional period had been placed.
